The iron source used in Puhdas+ Rauta is ferrous bisglycinate, which is one of the best tolerated iron compounds. In order to reduce the high iron concentration on the intestinal surface, ferrous bisglycinate and vitamin C are packaged in a granule, from which it is released gradually as the granule moves through the intestine. This prevents the entire amount of iron from being released in one place in the stomach or the beginning of the small intestine.
