A good choice for vegans/vegetarians and groups at increased risk of B12 deficiency: the elderly, those with pernicious anemia or intestinal diseases, and those recovering from long gastrointestinal surgeries. Long-term use of metformin or antacids can also increase the risk of B12 deficiency (see sections 2–3).On the product page you can see that the product contains methylcobalamin and a herbal capsule.

According to the MHRA, a decrease in B12 levels is general Adverse effect of metformin, especially with long-term/high-dose use; checking levels is recommended for those with symptoms and regular monitoring for those at risk.

Long-term use of stomach acid-reducing medication can weaken about food absorption of available B12 and predisposes to deficiency. If you are taking PPIs/H2 blockers for a long time, discuss monitoring with your healthcare provider.

For B12 no UL upper limit has been set, because the toxicity is very low; only a small portion of large tablet doses is absorbed (e.g. ~1.3%1000 µg per dose). Regular use and consideration of total intake with other products are important.

If you suspect a deficiency, an assessment will be made in the laboratory: serum B12 and, if necessary,methylmalonic acid (MMA)and/or homocysteine can help confirm. Discuss the results with a professional.
