Black cumin, also known as black cumin, is a flowering spice plant whose aromatic black seeds are full of valuable oil. Black cumin contains no less than 100 bioactive substances. Black cumin oil, also known as Black Seed Oil, contains, among other things, linoleic acid (omega-6) and a special essential oil called thymoquinone, which is considered to be behind the health-promoting effects of black cumin. The seeds also contain, among other things, myristic, palmitic, palmitoleic, stearic and oleic acids, B vitamins, calcium, iron, copper, zinc and phosphorus.

Black cumin oil can be used internally as a cooking oil in drinks or salad dressings, or as a dietary supplement by taking about 2 teaspoons of the oil a couple of hours before a meal on an empty stomach. Black cumin oil is not recommended for use during pregnancy.
