Potassium supplements should be considered with particular caution if you are taking:ACE inhibitors(e.g. enalapril),ATR blockers(e.g. losartan) or potassium-sparing diuretics(e.g. spironolactone, eplerenone, amiloride), as the combination may lead to hyperkalemia. Also trimethoprim/co-trimoxazole May increase potassium levels. Consult a healthcare professional before use.

In many in salt substitutes there is potassium chloride(also marked “potassium salt”). If you are at risk of hyperkalemia or are taking any of the medications mentioned in section 2, check labels and avoid excessive potassium loading. This also applies to prepared foods where sodium has been replaced with potassium.

If it occurs palpitations, weakness, unusual fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea or you suspect high potassium, discontinue use and consult a professional. For risk groups (kidney disease, medication in section 2) regular monitoring is important.
