Frequently asked questions

Stomach-friendly sodium ascorbate is a “buffered” form of vitamin C, meaning it is less acidic and more palatable to many people. The capsule is plant-based (HPMC)and the product fits for vegans. For exact ingredients and dosage: see instructions on the page.

Vitamin C improves the absorption of non-heme iron, so the combination is natural — especially in a plant-based diet. However, studies show the benefit of supplemental C alongside oral iron in IDA treatment small/limited, so routine supplemental C is not always necessary. Follow your treatment instructions.

For adults UL = 2,000 mg/day from all sources; high doses may cause indigestion(diarrhea, stomach aches). C is soluble in water, so the timing is flexible — for those with sensitive stomachs during a meal is often more pleasant.

1,000 mg of sodium ascorbate ≈ 111 mg of sodium. If you follow salt restriction, factor this into your total sodium for the day.WHO recommends for adults under 2,000 mg sodium/day.

Some of the follow-up studies include high doses of C (≥ ~1,000 mg/day) increased risk of kidney stones in men, while in all data no connection is observed. If you have previous stone disease, discuss the dosage with a professional and avoid unnecessarily large amounts.
